The Tent Trials: Day Five
I’m internally screaming “I’m about to jinx it! I’m about to jinx it! I’m about to jinx it!” as I type, but I’m typing regardless…
Day Five and I think we’ve cracked sleeping ‘The Tent’. After a slightly manic half-hour post-bath, request for FOUR(?) teddies to join her in the cot and a good half hour or so of chatting / slight moaning, the Babe settled into a deep slumber. In retrospect, I think she took a fair while to settle as her cot was filled with stuffed toys. I went up there at 8:30pm and found her lying across the mattress, slightly on top of “Oo Oo” her monkey, in the only space that didn’t have a teddy in it. (I took three toys out and gently swung her round so her head was on the pillow.)
And once again, she slept through til 7am, allowing me to get ready ahead of her getting up. Not only did I wash my hair, but I DRIED IT! How’s that for luxury?? Admittedly it was downstairs in front of the lounge mirror, with the door shut. But still, it felt great to start the day in control.
I think the next step is to ‘practise’ sleeping in the same room. I’m not looking forward to this, as I envisage many sleepless nights. But I think we should definitely tackle this over the weekend so any kinks are ironed out ready for next weekend.
